My wife and I visited Israel in October 2010, while there we visited the Taybeh Brewery in Ramallah, Palestine.
We flagged a taxi in Jerusalem and asked the driver to takes us to the Taybeh Brewery in Palestine, the driver thought we were joking but I persisted and suddenly we were on our way to Ramallah. Ramallah was an interesting town, mainly famous for the tomb of Yasser Arafat, after visiting the tomb we started our journey to find the brewery, originally I thought the brewery was in Ramallah but soon realized it was in the countryside, what should have taken 10 minutes ended up being 1/2 hour due to getting lost and taking the wrong turn, the driver rang the brewery and was given directions and with a bit of help from locals we eventually arrived at the Taybeh Brewery. We were greeted by Maria Khoury and head brewer and director Nadim Khoury, Maria took us on an interesting tour of the micro brewery and explained the brewery was established in 1994 and the word Taybeh means delicious in English, which is appropriate for the 4 excellent beers on offer – Golden, Dark, Amber and Non-alcoholic. The brewery is also famous for it's annual Oktoberfest which attracts visitors from all over the world. After a few samples I was given lots of labels, bottle caps (which I also collect) and coasters, I also purchased a few glasses and bottle openers as a reminder of our memorable tour to the Taybeh Brewery.
