In October 2008, my wife and I visited the Indonesian island of Bali for the first time.

Bali offers all the standard Indonesian beers - Bintang, Anker, Bali Hai, Heineken, San Miguel and Guinness but what I did not realise was Bali has had it's own micro brewery since 2005, so with this information I asked at our Hotel reception about this brewery, they gave me the address and phone number.

I flagged down a local taxi and gave him the address which was located in Denpasar, he was actually from Denpasar so he had a fair idea how to get there, I am glad he knew where he was going because after the maize of small back lanes and streets, I would have never of found this small brewery.

We eventually arrived and it looked like the place was closed but we found a back entrance which led upstairs to the small reception, no body spoke English but the Manager was called and he spoke a little bit of English, I explained I was looking for some of their beer labels, but he looked at me strangely, so with the help of sign language, the taxi driver and a picture I had earlier prepared, the Manager took off down the stairs and returned 5 minutes later with a handful of labels.

Storm Brewery bottles 5 different beers and produces seasonal brews which are available on tap at various hotels and restaurants around Bali.

We thanked him for his kindness, shook hands and returned back to our hotel in Kuta ( a truly memorable adventure) !!!!!
